UTA provides truck drivers in Austria with protective masks and disinfectant

UTA, a leading provider of fuel and service cards in Europe, together with DocStop, an advocacy group for the improvement of medical care for professional drivers, and Service 24 Notdienst GmbH, a service provider for the commercial vehicle industry, are providing truck drivers on Austrian motorways and expressways with free protective masks and disinfectant during the coronavirus pandemic. Several thousand protec-tive masks and disinfectant dispensers will be distributed to truckers over the next three weeks by mobile teams at rest areas and border stations across Austria.

"UTA has supported truck drivers in their everyday lives for almost sixty years, and these profes-sionals are currently facing acute challenges due to the pandemic," said Carsten Bettermann, CEO of UTA. “Compliance with basic protection and hygiene measures are essential for truck-ers but difficult due to the restricted operation of many rest areas. Our We Care for You initia-tive, part of Edenred Group’s More than Ever aid campaign, is designed to protect the health of drivers. I am pleased that we can pursue this goal in cooperation with our long-term partner DocStop and Service 24 Notdienst GmbH.”
"Through our SaniStop campaign and the installation of sanitary containers as part of the #Logistikhilft initiative, we’ve worked with UTA in Germany to give truck drivers free access to washing and showering facilities," says Joachim Fehrenkötter, Chairman of DocStop e.V. "Now we’re pleased to work with UTA in Austria to support truckers’ hygiene and health."

Jarno Bor, Managing Director of Service 24 Notdienst GmbH, adds: “As a service provider for the commercial vehicle industry, we offer truck drivers daily assistance with technical problems. I’m delighted that in cooperation with UTA and DocStop, we can help improve working con-ditions for these professionals.”

UTA corona relief measures Europe-wide
Through its We Care for You campaign UTA is also supporting truck drivers in Germany, Spain, Italy, France and Poland with protective masks, disinfectant, free meals and shower facilities in cooperation with motorway service areas and transport associations.
